Poppy The Fire Engine
Poppy The Fire Engine
As an entrepreneur, Director Ben saw a fantastic opportunity to save ex- London and Essex Fire engine from the scrapheap! After a bidding war, it was his!
The journey of restoring and rebuilding the engine began its 240 miles journey to North Yorkshire on hired transport Cadmans Transport.
Now the fun bit began; the original equipment was still intact and fully operational! To create more space the water tank was removed, and a new floor was installed. Yes, the fire hose was still there, and to keep the engine authentic the original ladders were kept and restored.
All the equipment was including in the auction sale, we don't really know what to do with the items out of the lockers. If you have a use for them, please get in touch! We are keeping the ladders on the roof to keep the her looking original as possible.
YES! They are all working as if they are brand new. It is very loud so you'll hear us coming to your event for sure ;)
Once we'd removed everything from the engine it was time to start putting bits back in, we fitted out the engine with 2 huge beer coolers supplying 19 taps!
To move with the times, and be greener and more efficient, solar panels were installed which help power the leisure facilities within the engine.
Now all restored the engine needed a name! After conferring with team members and family the engine was christened ‘Poppy’ in a private naming ceremony.
Poppy is now fully operational and ready for your upcoming event, take a look at the upcoming events page on where to find us next!
